The date is set for the Inside Ride, an exciting indoor cycling relay to take place at the University of Guelph Science Complex Atrium on March 6th, 2010. The format is simple: 6 riders per team, 10 minutes per rider in support of an amazing cause and my fundraising efforts for participation in the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride in September 2010 when we will ride from Vancouver to Halifax in 15 days.
No equipment required, just you, your friends, and your workout clothes (bikes are there, already set up). The fundraising and sign up procedures are much simpler this year as all can be done online on our very own website at www.uguelph.theinsideride.com. Sign up as an individual or if you have your team of six, pick a name and enter as a team. Donations can be made to the individual or the team. Downloadable forms are also on the site for collecting cash pledges as well. My personal ride link is www.snkcr.com/tomgibson for information on the ride links to Coast to Coast Against Cancer and for direct pledges for the ride.
The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride raises $$ to support several camps for kids with cancer – they can attend these camps in the summer for free and just be a kid again. Also, the Ride supports pediatric cancer research. This charity is unique because 100% of the donations actually go to the cause (all of the administrative stuff is donated, and the National riders pay a fee to cover their costs so that ALL of the money you raise actually gets to the kids).
